The Kampsville ferry connects IL-108 with IL-96/IL-100 at Kampsville. This is one of 2 permanent IDOT ferries (the other is the Brussels ferry at Grafton). These use tug barges connected by a rotating king pin. The tug pushes the barge, and rotates on the pin to keep the cars facing the correct direction. Shown above is the west landing and the spare ferry (shared between Kampsville and Brussels. The trailer houses crew lockers and an office, as well as repair parts and a small shop. |

At Ste. Genevieve MO another private ferry, this with a paddle wheel, runs across the river to Modoc. This ferry has been replaced with a barge and tow since. |
