The Lincoln Highway Association is active in recreating the Lincoln Highway, argueably the most famous named trail from the early 20th century. US-30 took over a great portion of the Lincoln Highway in the 1920's, including most of Illinois. In the 1930's US-30 was moved to a new road south of the original one, and the Lincoln Highway became Alternate US-30 after a stint as US-330. In the 1970's it became IL-38.
